Frequently Asked Questions

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a VERY relaxed state of mind and body which occurs naturally at least twice a day – when you are falling asleep and when you are waking up. It is a state of hyper-awareness in your subconscious mind while your conscious mind “checks out” as it would when engrossed in a great movie or book. You remain quite aware while in hypnosis and are in a relaxed state.

How does hypnotherapy work?

Hypnosis is the tool used to provide access to your subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative effort between you and me. Hypnosis enables us to utilize the power of your own subconscious mind to enact the changes you desire in your life. I will use your words phrased as positive suggestions to help you achieve the changes.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Each person will have their own unique experience during hypnosis. Most people will feel extremely relaxed, both physically and mentally. It is common to feel very aware of what is being said. Some may have physical feelings of lightness, heaviness, or tingling to name a few. It is common to feel a profound sense of calmness.

Can I get stuck in a hypnotic trance?

No, you cannot get stuck in hypnosis. Your conscious mind is aware at all times and can choose to assert itself, bringing you to a fully awake state of consciousness at any time.

Will I do or say anything I don’t want to do in hypnosis?

No. Suggestions given during hypnosis cannot compel you to act contrary to your ethics and desires. Hypnotherapy is unlike stage hypnosis in that it is not a means of entertainment. We will not be working together to make you quack like a duck!

Can I be hypnotized?

Yes, everybody is hypnotizable!
